The DJ-X2000, which is Alinco's answer to the AOR AR-8200 B, is probably the most feature-packed handheld scanning receiver currently on the market. This scanner has frequency coverage of 100 kHz to 2150 MHz (excluding cellular frequencies) in LSB, USB, CW, AM, NFM and WFM. With a massive 2000 memories you are unlikely to run out of storage space if you use the Alinco DJ-X2000. Memories are organised into 50 banks, each of which holds 40 channels.
Amongst the exciting new features of the Alinco DJ-X2000 are flash tuning and a built in frequency counter. With the flash tune function activated, when the DJ-X2000 finds a transmission it will immediately start outputting audio, allowing instant monitoring. The Alinco DJ-X2000 will then remain on this frequency for further monitoring. Another feature is the field strength meter, or transweeper, which is used for the detection of bugs and other transmissions. As you approach a RF source a beeping noise progressively increases. There is also a visual signal to indicate your proximity to the source.
In order to avoid unwanted frequencies up to 50 search pass frequencies can be set per bank. What's more, different banks can be linked together such that more than one bank can be searched at a time. The Alinco DJ-X2000 also has a select scan feature, which allows the scanner to be set up such that only selected channels are scanned. Alternatively there is a scan signal level function which allows reception of only those signals that are stronger than a certain, preset level.
Other features of the Alinco DJ-X2000 that really deserve a mention are the 3-mode (busy, stop, timer) priority channel function, the built in descrambler for inversion type scrambling, the stereo audio option (when using headphones or external speakers), the drop in charger, the ability to record 160 seconds of audio, and the screen backlight and illuminated buttons.
Other features include:
Alpha tagging - 2 setting attenuator - cloning facility - battery saver feature - battery low indicator - auto step and manual step options - on/off timer - CTCSS decoder - Channel scope spectrum display - PC programmable - mic for voice recording - help navigation.
If you already own an Alinco DJ-X2000 scanner then you may be interested in downloading the latest version of official Alinco software. In order to do so you will most likely need Alinco's optional ERW-4C computer cable, which is used for making a PC to scanner connection. Alternative cables may not be suitable for this purpose.
The available software allows frequencies to be programmed and parameters to be set in whatever version of the DJ-X2000 you own. Please note, modifications cannot be made to the 800MHz cellular band and the inversion scrambler decoder is blocked in the 'T' model due to U.S. legal requirements.
Although Alinco have tested this software in Windows 95/98/NT they accept no responsibilty for any problems the download may cause to your computer or scanner. As is often the case, you download and use this software at your own risk.
